Atmosphere — not the product

Your ears and scalp heat faster than the rest of you. Focus goes, the room starts to feel like a countdown, and you step out ten minutes before your body had any intention of stopping.

Wool felt sits between your head and the air and buys that time back. How much time depends entirely on how thick the felt is — which is the one number nobody in this category prints on the label.

Ours is 1050 gsm at 3 mm. The mill offers lighter and heavier. Lighter is cheaper to make. Heavier gets hot to wear long before it works any better.

Three things you would find out anyway.

So where is it? There isn’t one. The samples aren’t in our hands yet, and we would rather show you nothing than a supplier’s catalogue shot of somebody else’s hat. You will see the real thing, in real light, before it ships.

Wool

Really Australian Merino? That is what the mill put in writing, and it is their word rather than a lab result. We will keep saying it exactly that way until an independent fibre test earns us the right to say it plainly.

Lifespan

How long will it last? We don’t know yet. So there is no durability promise anywhere on this page and no warranty language either — just 1050 gsm of felt, sewn rather than glued. Ask again in a year and we’ll have a real answer.
